Thomas J. “Tommy” Carter — Shallotte

Mr. Thomas J. “Tommy” Carter age 72 of Shallotte died Saturday September 28, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Carter was born in Calabash, NC on April 25, 1941 and was the son of the late Leonard C. and Susan Lockamy Carter. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Carter, a sister, Christine Downer, a brother, Charles Carter. Tommy was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Coates Carter; three sons, Jeffrey Dale Carter and wife Sue, Michael Wayne Carter and wife Nancy, Stephen Craig Carter all of Shallotte; two daughters, Stephanie Carol Carter Compton and husband Robert of Greentown, Pa., Saundra Kay Carter Faircloth and husband William of Chadbourn; three sisters, Nell Walker and husband Julian of Wilmington, Mary Alice Flickinger of Newark, Delaware, Shirley Carter Jordan of Valdese; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at White Funeral Service Chapel, 3660 Express Dr., Shallotte on Tuesday October 1, 2013 at 4pm with Reverend Weldon L. Coates and Reverend Brad Hardwick officiating. Burial will follow in the Mintz Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be, Anthony Faircloth, Rocky Faircloth, Jami Lewter, Douglass Walker, Keith Leonard, Adam Savage.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.
