Mrs. Nancy “Becky” Willetts age 73 of Bolivia died February 11, 1014 following a brief illness.

Mrs. Willetts was born in Greenville County, SC on October 17, 1940 and was the daughter of the late Nelson Perry Satterfield and Carrie Hahn Satterfield. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Willetts. She retired from the Military Ocean Terminal at Sunny Point.

She is survived by two sons, Donald Scott Willetts and Jonathan Perry Willetts both of Bolivia; two grandchildren, Brandon and Holly Willetts; a sister, Nelda Amspacher of Calfornia; her mother in-law, Elizabeth Willetts of Bolivia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 15, 2014 at 2pm at Mill Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Edge and Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Willetts Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday February 14, 2014 from 6-8 pm at White Funeral Service, 3660 Express Dr. Shallotte.

Grover Locke Edwards, Jr. of Supply, NC died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 following a brief illness.

He was born December 4, 1954 to Mary Emma Edwards and Grover Locke Edwards, Sr. of Hickory, NC.

Grover is Survived by his wife, Connie Bean Edwards; daughter, Laura Michelle Kitchens of Wilmington, NC and sister, Mary Ruth Schenk of Hickory, NC.

A 1978 graduate of NCSU School of Civil Engineering, Grover was employed by Hickory Construction Company; LP Cox Construction Company of Concord, NC; Strickland Martin Construction Company of Charlotte, NC; Hale Construction  of Wilmington, NC and Paragon Builders also of Wilmington. He had been a partner in Building Systems of Catawba County and owner of Site Con, Inc. of Hickory, NC.  He most recently worked with Woods Engineering of Wilmington, NC.

Grover was a lifetime member of Professional Construction Estimators Association and had served as the national President of the organization in 1993-94.

A memorial service will be held at the Holden Beach Chapel on Saturday, February 8 at 10:00 AM.

Gertrude Lewis Williams age 83 of Bolivia, NC died Wednesday February 5, 2014 at her residence.

She was born in Brunswick County on November 30, 1930 the daughter of the late Andrew Taft Lewis and Lucy Garner Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Martin Williams, a son, Martin Dale Williams and a brother, Elmer Lewis.

Mrs. Williams was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bolivia, NC.

Surviving are her children, Brenda W. Borowski (Larry) of Bolivia, Michael Williams (Mary) of Whiteville, NC and Maria Williams (Chris Linker) also of Bolivia; a brother, A. T. Lewis Jr. also of Bolivia; a sister, Kitty Batchelor of Sunset Harbor; five grandchildren, Jeremy Borowski, Jessica Williams, Tara Neal, Craig Williams Brandon Ervin; six great-grandchildren, Brooke Borowski, Scott Borowski, Kayden Smith, Emma Ervin, Noah Hinshaw, Marlee Hinshaw.

Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Saturday February 8, 2014 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church by Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Edward Robert Wagner 71 of Bolivia died Monday February 3, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Wagner was born in Orange County, NC and was the son of Warren P. and Lillie Mae Davis Wagner. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Bolivia.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Jennifer Wagner, four sons, Thomas, Stanley and wife Cynthia, Tim, Wilton; step-mother, Laura Wagner, step-father, Reece Johnson; three brothers, Ronnie Scoggins, Robert Williams, Harry Johnson; five sisters, Nancy Murray, Marjorie Hamlet, Mary Jane Cook, Wendy Nugent, Aleine Cummings; 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday February 8, 2014 at 2pm at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Old Ocean Highway, Bolivia with Pastor Robert Lucas officiating.

Burnice Joseph Causey, Sr. “B.J.” age 73, of Shallotte, NC died from lung cancer February 3rd 2014 at the home he built on Village Point Rd.  He was born October 2, 1940 in Little River, SC.

He was preceded in death by: his parents of Shallotte, Eva Bennett Causey and Kermit Leo Causey, Father-in-law Clyde Galloway, of Bolivia, NC, one brother, Douglas Leo Causey of Shallotte (surviving wife Marilyn Causey) and two sisters of Florida, Reba Causey Platt and Emma Neil Causey Hewett (surviving husband James L. “Pee Wee” Hewett)  and one nephew, Justin Timothy Hughes of Ash, NC.

“BJ” is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Eloise Pierce Causey of Shallotte, son, Burnice Joseph Causey, Jr. “Joey” (and wife, Lisa Finley Causey) of Leland, NC, daughter, April Joy Causey Trull (and husband, Steven Mark Trull) of Bolivia, NC and four grandchildren, Nicholas Ian Causey, Carleigh Noelle Causey, Christopher Dale Evans and Patrick Vaile Evans, two brothers of Shallotte: Robert Frank Causey (and wife Lena Mae Causey), Willard Lonnie Causey (and wife Lula Mae Causey) and one sister, Verona Causey Hughes of Ash NC, Mother-in-law, Aileen Evans Pierce Galloway, two brothers-in-law Clyde Alan Galloway, of Raleigh, NC and Franklin Earl Galloway of Bolivia, nephews:  Timothy Roy Hughes, Robert Eugene Causey, Kermit Alton “Buddy” Causey, Dexter Allen Hewett, Willard  Lonnie Causey, Jr., and nieces:  Sheila Renee Platt Summersgill, Dell Marie Causey Pittman, Diana Lynn Causey Carpenter, Eva Yvonne Causey King,   Jamie Mae Hewett Ramsey, Pamela Dee Hewett, Amy Michele Hughes.

As a young boy, the 5th of seven children, he stitched soles in his father’s various shoe shops in Anderson, SC and Shallotte.  Like all his siblings, he walked to Jennies Branch Baptist Church led by his mother and was baptized at the Brick Landing Fish Camp.  A welder and dredge boater for many years, “BJ” was licensed Nov 29th 1972 by the US Coast Guard to navigate vessels up to 15 tons and ferried crew constructing the 2nd Cooper River Bridge, Charleston SC.  After years of drilling piling for beach cottages, he built one of the first portable toilet rental companies in Brunswick County.  His humble spirit earned “BJ” the respect of neighbors and affection of friends from “hot dog” grills far and wide.

B.J. met his bride at the Shallotte Skating Rink, married her June 27, 1964 at Bethel Methodist Church, Bolivia and held her hand through sickness and in health, literally until death.

The family will celebrate “B.J’s” life, by receiving friends Thursday 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm at White Funeral Service 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte.  Rev. Anthony Clemmons of Mt. Wynston Hewett age 79 of Shallotte went home to be with the Lord  on Friday January 31, 2014 at the SECU  Hospice House of Brunswick  with his wife,  Agnes Hewett by his side.

In addition to his wife are 3 children; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Anthony Dale “Tony” Caison Sr., age 39, of Bolivia died Monday January 27, 2014 at SECU Hospice House, Brunswick Facility.

Tony was born in New Hanover County on October 14, 1974 and was the son of Judy Maggard Caison of Bolivia and the late Gene A. Caison Sr. He was a graduate of West Brunswick High School. He was a member of the football team #70 where today his trophy’s and jersey are on display.

Tony was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was a devoted servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and also his community. He was a career Law Enforcement Officer, serving with the Holden Beach Police Department and Shallotte Police Department and finding his home with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office where he retired as Sergeant with the Detective Division. He also was a member of the Civietown Fire Department. Following his retirement Tony became very active with the Lockwood Folly Dixie Youth where he coached the Little Chiefs Football Team as well as Baseball and the girls Basketball team. He served as a Board Member and Vice-President with the Lockwood Folly Parks and Recreation. Tony was an avid Pittsburg Steelers Fan.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Shannon C. Caison; two sons, Michael Lee Caison, Anthony Dale Caison Jr.; two brothers, Gene Allen Caison Jr. and wife Renee of Supply, Greg Caison and wife Angel of Bolivia; three nephews, Rodney, Corey, Ryan; two nieces, Kristen and Danielle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 1, 2014 at 1pm at the Brunswick Community College Odell Williamson Auditorium with Reverend Anthony Clemmons and Reverend Eddie Hill officiating.

Burial will follow in the Royal Oak Cemetery with Law Enforcement Honors by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department and Fireman’s Honors.

Pallbearers will be the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dewayne Kirby, Keith Smith, Bossy Clemmons, Jimmy St. George, William Powell, Ed Carter, members of the Brunswick County Sheriffs Office, Civietown Fire Department and the Lockwood Folly’s Dixie Youth.

The family will receive friends Friday January 31st from 6-8 pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Bolivia.

Mrs. Judith Ann Burns, 72, of Bolivia, NC died Saturday January 25, 2014 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.

She was born on July 19, 1941 in Bangor Maine the daughter of the late Dean and Erma White Howells.

Mrs. Burns retired from the Brunswick County District Attorney’s office. She was affiated with the Eastern Trust and Banking for 14 years while residing in Bangor and was a graduated from Bangor High School.

Surviving are her husband, Herbert Burns of the home; two children, Brian Burns and wife, Mary Boston of Alton Bay, NH and Mark Burns and wife, Christine Bly of Wilmington, NC; five grandchildren, Brian Burns, Jr., Cody Burns, Justin Bly, Anica Bly, Eddie Tucker and Hawk Tucker; a sister, Jerry Oakes of Rockland, Maine

Barbara Few Jett age 67 of Supply died January 24, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Jett was born April 20, 1946 in Ravenna, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence Adair Few.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Jett; two daughters, Kim Jett and Fiance’ Mark McDonald of the home, Stephanie Dew and husband Chris of Whiteville; four grandchildren, C.J. Dew and Kayden Dew of Whiteville, Shane Barton and Gabrail McDonald of the home.
