Mr. William Legwin Varnam age 55 of Varnamtown died Monday August 19, 2013.

Mr. Varnam was born in Brunswick County on December 21, 1957 and was the son of Harry Legwin Varnam and Esther Mae Williams Varnam. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Crystal Caudill. Mr. Varnam was a commercial fisherman and also avid gardener and considered himself a “Field Technician”. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed making furniture.

He is survived by his mother, Esther Mae Varnam of Supply; his wife, Lisa S. Varnam; a son, Willie Henry Varnam and wife Cecelia of Smithfield; a daughter, Cereta Varnam of Shallotte; three grandchildren, Aaliyah Ward, Shawn Ward, Callie Varnam; four sisters, Sandra Matthews of Leland, Beverly “ Bee Bee” Harper of Supply, Cheryl Cruz of Supply and Mary Ellen Varnam of Supply.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 22, 2013 at 2pm at Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Bill Negron officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at White Funeral Service, 3660 Express Dr., Shallotte and other times at the residence.

Mr. Samuel Thomas Inman

Mr. Samuel Thomas Inman age 82 of Shallotte died Peacefully Thursday August 15, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Mr. Inman was born in Brunswick County on July 5, 1931 and was the son of the late Franklin D. and Madge Grant Inman. He was a salesman in the building supply industry for many years. He was a former Alderman with the Town of Shallotte. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Homer Inman, Aaron Inman, Howard Inman, Lloyd Inman.

He is survived by his wife, Edna S. Inman; four children, Thomas Inman and wife Sue of Ash, Allen Inman and wife Shaina of Holden Beach, Debbie Long and husband Pat of Ash, Theresa Register and husband Mark of Ash; grandchildren, Heath Inman and wife Tiffanie, Brian Inman and wife Ashley, Shanetta Wood and husband Steve, Jeffery Inman, Ashlie Long; great grandchildren, Madison Wood, Aerial Inman, Theodore Wood, Austin Inman, Isabella Wood, Brayden Inman, Kaitlyn Rea, Bridgette Anspaugh; great great grandchild, Annabella Todd; sister, Annie Vance of Whiteville, twin brother, Silas Inman of Tabor City, Boyd Inman of Ash, George Inman of Ash.

Funeral services will be held Sunday August 18, 2013 at 3pm at Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Joe Needham and Reverend Charlie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Bill Inman Cemetery, Ash.

Pallbearers will be, Heath Inman, Brian Inman, Jeffery Inman, Steve Wood, Harry Inman, Charles Inman. Honorary pallbearers will be, Lynn Gause, Rodney Gause, David Gause, Jim Watson, Dudley King, Roscoe Warren, Mike Schaffers, Richard Hallman, Kenny Inman.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at White Funeral Service, 3660 Express Dr., Shallotte and other times from the home.

Mrs. Lena Evelyn Robinson age 91 of the Boones Neck Community in Supply died Tuesday August 13, 2013 at SECU Hospice House, Bolivia.

Mrs. Robinson was born in Brunswick County on December 7, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Preston and Rebecca Lewis Phelps. She was of the Baptist Faith and attended Shell Point Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Larry C. Robinson and was also preceded in death by two sons, Bennie Robinson and Donald Robinson and a daughter, Lena Mae Robinson.

She is survived by a son, Thomas E. Robinson and wife Sandra of Supply; four daughters, Alice Carter of Franklin, Kentucky, Judy Lockamy of Supply, Doris McDuffie and husband Bobby of Supply, Mary Clemmons of Supply; daughter in-law, Cathy Robinson of Supply; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday August 16, 2013 at 2pm at Shell Point Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Milliken and Reverend Tommy Inman officiating. Burial will follow in the Silent Grove Cemetery.

Grandson’s of Mrs. Robinson will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Richard Kenneth Brannan age 74 of Shallotte died August 7, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Brannan was born October 30, 1938 in Denver, Colorado and was the son of the late Hubert Glenn and Marjorie Lee Gant Brannon. He was a US Army Veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Martha Brannan; two children, Warren F. Brannan of Sanford, Rebecca Filomena of Ocean Isle Beach; a sister, Patricia Brannan of Tacoma, Washington; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Evelyn D. Tucker age 89 of Ocean Isle Beach died Sunday August 11, 2013 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.

Mrs. Tucker was born November 7, 1923 in Martinsburg, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Frank and Marian Story Singleton.

She is survived by her son, James C. Tucker of Ocean Isle; one grandson and three great grandchildren.

Mr. James Douglas Howard age 71 of Winnabow died July 29, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Howard was born in Greensburg, Kentucky on October 4, 1941 and was the son of the late Rufus and Mary Catherine Mitchell Howard. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Lois C. Howard; a son, Eric Howard of Shallotte; two step-daughters, Tammy Tripp and Crystal Sheppard of Shallotte and one grandchild.

Mr. Franklin R. Varnam age 80 of Supply died Tuesday July 16, 2013 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.

Mr. Varnam was born in Brunswick County on October 14, 1932 and was the son of the late William Harry and Minnie Varnam. He was preceded in death by a daughter Carrie Ann Hicks and a son in-law Al Drayton. He was a retired Longshoreman from Sunny Point. He was a charter member of the Tri-Beach Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Madoline McRoy Varnam; five children, Freddie Hayes, Sonny Hayes, Dottie Holden and husband Greg, Marie Drayton, Jeremie Varnam and wife Katy all of Supply; grandchildren, Brandy, B.J., Paula, Renee, James, Tara, Tonya, Chris, Shawn, Melissa and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday July 19, 2013 at 4pm at Dixon Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Negron, Reverend Gerald Kirby and Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Judith Margaret St. George age 46 of Supply died Sunday July 7, 2013.

Judith was born in Albany, New York on March 21, 1967 and was the daughter of Margaret G. Rutolo of Troy, NY and the late Lloyd Jay Austin. Judith loved the beach and enjoyed reading and cooking. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, Patrick St. George; four children, Patrick Durant, Ashley Durant of Charlotte, Jamie Hankle of NY, Gabriaele Doolittle of Calabash; brother John Austin of NY and her grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday July 11, 2013 at 11am at Sharon United Methodist Church with Pastor Eddie Hill officiating.
