Anthony Dale “Tony” Caison Sr., age 39, of Bolivia died Monday January 27, 2014 at SECU Hospice House, Brunswick Facility.

Tony was born in New Hanover County on October 14, 1974 and was the son of Judy Maggard Caison of Bolivia and the late Gene A. Caison Sr. He was a graduate of West Brunswick High School. He was a member of the football team #70 where today his trophy’s and jersey are on display.

Tony was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He was a devoted servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and also his community. He was a career Law Enforcement Officer, serving with the Holden Beach Police Department and Shallotte Police Department and finding his home with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office where he retired as Sergeant with the Detective Division. He also was a member of the Civietown Fire Department. Following his retirement Tony became very active with the Lockwood Folly Dixie Youth where he coached the Little Chiefs Football Team as well as Baseball and the girls Basketball team. He served as a Board Member and Vice-President with the Lockwood Folly Parks and Recreation. Tony was an avid Pittsburg Steelers Fan.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Shannon C. Caison; two sons, Michael Lee Caison, Anthony Dale Caison Jr.; two brothers, Gene Allen Caison Jr. and wife Renee of Supply, Greg Caison and wife Angel of Bolivia; three nephews, Rodney, Corey, Ryan; two nieces, Kristen and Danielle.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 1, 2014 at 1pm at the Brunswick Community College Odell Williamson Auditorium with Reverend Anthony Clemmons and Reverend Eddie Hill officiating.

Burial will follow in the Royal Oak Cemetery with Law Enforcement Honors by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Department and Fireman’s Honors.

Pallbearers will be the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dewayne Kirby, Keith Smith, Bossy Clemmons, Jimmy St. George, William Powell, Ed Carter, members of the Brunswick County Sheriffs Office, Civietown Fire Department and the Lockwood Folly’s Dixie Youth.

The family will receive friends Friday January 31st from 6-8 pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Bolivia.

Mrs. Judith Ann Burns, 72, of Bolivia, NC died Saturday January 25, 2014 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.

She was born on July 19, 1941 in Bangor Maine the daughter of the late Dean and Erma White Howells.

Mrs. Burns retired from the Brunswick County District Attorney’s office. She was affiated with the Eastern Trust and Banking for 14 years while residing in Bangor and was a graduated from Bangor High School.

Surviving are her husband, Herbert Burns of the home; two children, Brian Burns and wife, Mary Boston of Alton Bay, NH and Mark Burns and wife, Christine Bly of Wilmington, NC; five grandchildren, Brian Burns, Jr., Cody Burns, Justin Bly, Anica Bly, Eddie Tucker and Hawk Tucker; a sister, Jerry Oakes of Rockland, Maine

A Celebration of life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday February 1, 2014 at Peace Memorial Baptist Church Winnabow, NC  by Reverend Hoyt King officiating.

Barbara Few Jett age 67 of Supply died January 24, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Jett was born April 20, 1946 in Ravenna, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Florence Adair Few.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Jett; two daughters, Kim Jett and Fiance’ Mark McDonald of the home, Stephanie Dew and husband Chris of Whiteville; four grandchildren, C.J. Dew and Kayden Dew of Whiteville, Shane Barton and Gabrail McDonald of the home.

Funeral services will be Friday January 31, 2014 at 3pm at White Funeral Service Chapel, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte with Dennis Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Cape Fear Memorial Park Mausoleum, Highway 211, Southport.

Dennis Earl Knight, Sr age 62 of Supply, NC passed way on Sunday January 26, 2014 at Brunswick Novant Medical Center Bolivia, NC.

 He was born on June 12, 1951 in Columbus, Ohio the son of the late Ernest and Clara Creech Knight.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Hewett Knight of the home; a son, Dennis Knight, Jr.; a daughter, Shannon Jackson both of Supply; one brother, Jim Knight of Southport, NC; two sisters, Sue Herren of Arkansas and Vicki Alearaz of Mexico; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

A celebration  of life will be held 2 PM Tuesday January 28, 2014 at White Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel 3660 Express Drive Shallotte by  Reverend Donnie Jones officiating.

Karen Louise Hewett, 52, of Supply passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014  in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, NC.

Born on August 21, 1961 in Anderson County, SC, she was the daughter of David Lee Waters and the late Geneva Mae Edens Waters. 

Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She will be missed by all who knew her. 

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Aaron Dean Hewett of the home; a daughter, Adrian Nicole Hewett Varnam of Supply, NC and a son Aaron Jason Hewett of the home, a sister Judy Lynn Waters Smith and husband Maxie Joe Smith of Honea Path, SC; a brother Kenneth Mack Waters of Pelzer, SC; Aunt Vera Edens, Pelzer, SC; Uncle David Earl Edens, Pelzer, SC and two grandsons, Tyler Varnam and Nicholas Varnam of Supply, NC. She is also survived by her Mother-in-law Brenda Hewett of Shallotte, brother-in-law Don Hewett of Shallotte Point and sister-in-law Deanna Johnson and husband Billy of Shallotte Point and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Joe Smith, Billy Johnson, Austin Johnson, Justin Hewett, Jimmy Ward and Tom Driver.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Hewett, Dale Hewett, Mike Hewett and Butch Lister.

Funeral services will be at 3pm Monday, January 27, 2014 at White Funeral Service 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte with Dr. Robert Weathers officiating.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Harry T. Wilkes, 67, of Ocean Isle Beach died Wednesday January 22, 2014 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Wilkes was born in Garland, N.C. on November 23, 1946 and was the son of David Andrew Wilkes and Peggy Cain Wilkes White. Mr. Wilkes was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in Vietnam. He was a member of Ocean View Baptist Church, the Brunswick County Shrine Club and the Thunderbolts and  a Mason. He was a retired Contractor.

He is survived by his wife, Faye Wilkes; four children, Sandra Ward of Ocean Isle Beach, Kim Cheers and husband Barry of Shallotte, Randy Wilkes and wife Melissa of Shallotte, Donna Prevatte and husband Robert of Ocean Isle Beach; six grandchildren, Zack, Kayla, Justin, Jordan, Blake, Braydon; a brother, Cecil Wilkes and wife Susie of Elizabethtown; a sister, Ann Armstrong of Elizabethtown; nieces and nephews and his faithful canine companion, Hailey. A very special caregiver, Erika Boynton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 25, 2014 at 11am at Calvary Baptist Church, Village Rd., Shallotte with Reverend Wayne Turnage officiating. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Joulieo Valdez, Jamie Valdez, Dexter Robinson, Von Faison, Robert Jordan, Ronald Edwards.

Boyd Lance McKeithan, age 96, of Holden Beach passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia.

Mr. McKeithan was born August 27, 1917, son of the late Thomas and Bessie Clemmons McKeithan.  He was a member of Sabbath Home Baptist Church.  Mr. McKeithan was also a member of  Gideons International and Woodmen of the World.

Survivors include his daughter Nancy Moore of Wilmington; brother Alton McKeithan and wife Nancy of Virginia Beach, Virginia; beloved sister-in-law Marion McKeithan of Wilmington; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, January 20, 2014 at Sabbath Home Baptist Church with Reverend Wade McLamb, Reverend Anthony Clemmons, and Reverend Mike Morley officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Sabbath Home Baptist Church deacons.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Brunswick County Chapter of Gideons and Gideons Ladies Auxiliary.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 at the church.

Jerry Dewayne Milligan, 51 of Leland died Thursday January 16, 2014 at his home.

Jerry was born in Orlando, Florida on May 10, 1962. He was preceded in death by his father, Carnell Milligan and a brother, Carl Milligan.

He is survived by his mother, Joan Gore Milligan of the home; a brother, Robert Scott Milligan of Leland; a sister, Linda Ann Milligan of Winnabow and very special nieces and nephews.

Margaret Hewett Salley, age 87, of Supply died Wednesday January 8, 2014.

Mrs. Salley was born in Brunswick County on November 14, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Bertie C. Hewett. She was the wife of the late Reverend Jack Salley. She owned and operated Silver Hill Grill for over thirty years. She was a member of Ocean View Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Salley of Supply, Judy Willetts of Asheboro, Sheila Cooper of Supply; two brothers, R.L. Hewett of Supply, Mitchell Turner of Ash; 12 grandchildren and numerous great and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday January 12, 2014 at 3pm  at Ocean View Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Buddy Coates officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Grandsons will service as pallbearers.

Mrs. Pamela A. Stovall age 68 of Shallotte died Sunday December 29, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Stovall was born in Davidson County, N.C. on March 22, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Don and Mildred Goss Adkins.  She was the Office Manager for Mud Duck Operations of Bolivia, NC for 28 years.

She is survived by her husband, Don Stovall of the home; two step-sons, Scott Stovall and wife Jolinda and Kevin Stovall and wife Ginger all of Lexington, NC; a sister, Ginger Duncan and husband JR of Shallotte; brother in-law, Wayne Stovall and wife Lori of Lexington, NC; a Cousin, R.D. Adkins of Lexington, NC.
