Mrs. Pamela A. Stovall age 68 of Shallotte died Sunday December 29, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Stovall was born in Davidson County, N.C. on March 22, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Don and Mildred Goss Adkins.  She was the Office Manager for Mud Duck Operations of Bolivia, NC for 28 years.

She is survived by her husband, Don Stovall of the home; two step-sons, Scott Stovall and wife Jolinda and Kevin Stovall and wife Ginger all of Lexington, NC; a sister, Ginger Duncan and husband JR of Shallotte; brother in-law, Wayne Stovall and wife Lori of Lexington, NC; a Cousin, R.D. Adkins of Lexington, NC.

No Services will be held.

Mr. David Thomas McKethan age 50 of Holden Beach died Saturday December 21, 2013.

David was born on May 17, 1963 in Colorado Springs, Colorado and was the son of Eugene and Fay Miller McKethan of Holden Beach. David was an avid fisherman and talented carpenter. He enjoyed very much doing for others and gave back what was so freely given to him. He was a member of the Holden Beach Chapel.

Survivors in addition to his parents include his wife, Tammie H. McKethan; a brother, Eugene McKethan III and wife Tammy of Fayetteville; a sister, Leslie Manley and husband Rodney of Holden Beach.

A memorial service will be held Monday December 23, 2013 at 11am at White Funeral Service Chapel, 3660 Express Dr. Shallotte with Dr. John Gray officiating.

Mardis Dale Sellers age 78 of Supply died Thursday December 12, 2013 at SECU Hospice Care Center, Bolivia.

Mr. Sellers was born July 26, 1935 and was the son of the late Reverend H.M. Sellers and Faye Bishop Sellers. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Dale was a devoted Christian and enjoyed attending the Assembly Of God Church. He retired from Spring Industries of Fort Mill, S.C.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane Hudson Sellers of the home; a son, Chris Sellers and wife Leticia of Fayetteville and a granddaughter, Hannah; three brothers, Clyde Sellers of Johnson City, TN., Stan Sellers of Rockingham, Tony Sellers of Texas; a sister, Judy Danish of San Antonia, Texas; his devoted pets, Maddie Grace and Cleopatra.

Funeral services will be held Sunday December 15, 2013 at 3pm at White Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel, Shallotte with Woody Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Graveside services will be 1pm Monday December 16, 2013 at the Eastside Cemetery in Rockingham, NC.

Mrs. Delores Todd Gray, 60, of Shallotte Point Community passed away on Friday December 6, 2013 at Novant Health Services of Brunswick.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lenon and Mary Lee Todd and a brother in-law, Allen Carringer.

She is survived by her husband of twenty years, Bruce Gray; four sisters, Deanna T. Grissett, Annette T. Carringer, Kay T. Dyson, Jackie Todd; nieces and nephews, Tal Grissett, Amber G. Taylor, JJ Sullivan, Abbey Dyson, all of Shallotte; a step-daughter, Rhae Gray Gilley and five grandchildren all of Cleburne, Texas.

She was a devoted Christian and deeply loved by all of her family.

Mr. Phillip Farina age 78 of Calabash died Thursday December 5, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Farina was born October 24, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York and was the son of the late Phillip and Lillie Angeli Farina.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis E. Farina; three children, Steven Farina of Shallotte, Phylis Haring and Valerie Davie of New York and nine grandchildren.

Mr. Virgil Alfred DeWees

Mr. Virgil Alfred DeWees, Jr. age 81 of Holden Beach, NC died Sunday November 17, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Dunbar, West Virginia on December 1, 1931 and was the son of the late Virgil Alfred DeWees, Sr. and Carrie Ethel Mash DeWees. He was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Garnes, Phyllis Thaxton, Louise Guthrie and Dorothy Campbell.

Mr. DeWees was an Air Force Veteran and was a Logistics Manager with the United States Defense Department.  He attended the Holden Beach Chapel.

Surviving are his wife, Betty J. Garnes DeWees of the home; a son, James Robert “JR” DeWees and wife, Debbie; a daughter, Jennifer Montieth and husband, Mike all of Charles Town, WV; two brothers, Joseph E. DeWees of Supply, NC and Richard Gary DeWees and wife, Helgard of Prince George, VA; a sister, Betty J. Derrick and husband, Gooley of Dunbar, WV; five grandchildren, Sarah DeWees, Emily Sizemore, Mary Alice DeWees, Joshua Montieth and Chase Montieth.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 26, 2013 at 11am at Dunbar Mountain Mission with Chaplain (Maj) Michael Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Cooke Funeral Home and Crematorium 2002 20th St.,  Nitro, WV 25314 on Monday November 25, 2013 from 6-8 pm.

Mr. DeWees will lie in State for viewing at White Funeral Service, Shallotte on Thursday November 21, 2013 from 9am until 5pm.

Mrs. Tammy Lynn King Johnson age 44 of Shallotte died November 13, 2013.

Tammy was born in Columbus County on December 8, 1968 and was the daughter of Phillip and Cynthia Edwards King of Shallotte. Tammy had many talents, she enjoyed doing puzzles working on jumbles, playing the piano and crocheting. She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Bobby Johnson; six children, Arika Johnson, Barbara Johnson, Bobby Johnson II, Roger Johnson, Khandon Frink, Bryan Johnson; five grandchildren, Diontr’e, Keonsha, Adrianna, Iliyah (very Special), Khamayi; a brother, Phillip Eric King, a sister in-law, Melissa King; two nieces, Sulanna and Kailyn; two Aunts, two Uncles and one great Aunt and her canine companion of 20 years, Bow Bow.

Funeral services will be held Sunday November 17th, 2013 at 2pm at New Britton Baptist Church in Ash. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mr. David Phillip Lancaster

Mr. David Phillip Lancaster Sr. age 75 of Supply died Friday November 8, 2013 at SECU Hospice Brunswick Facility, Bolivia

Mr. Lancaster was born in Brunswick County on September 23, 1938 and was the son of the late Snode and Bonnie Holden Lancaster. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Willetts Lancaster and a daughter, Jennifer Dannette Lancaster. He was  a member and Past Master of Shallotte Lodge #727 A.F.&A.M. and was a certified Lecturer. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner and the Eastern Star. He was an ordained Minister by After God’s Heart Ministerial Fellowship. He was active in prison ministries and served as a Guardian Ad Litem of the 13th Judicial District and also participated in Cape Fear Emmaus Walk and the Samaritan’s Purse Ministry. He was an avid fisherman, but more so a fisher of men. He was a member of Word Of Christ Fellowship Church.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Angier Lancaster; a son, David Phillip Lancaster Jr. and wife Tiffany of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Jenny Lancaster Todd and husband Murphy of Supply; three step-children, Daniel Marshall of AZ., Melissa Marshall and Christa Hudson of Ct.; two sisters, Joyce Robinson and husband Eldred of Supply, Norma Jean Maness and husband Len of Hope Mills, NC; four grandchildren and three step- grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Monday November 11, 2013 at 1pm at White Funeral Service Chapel, 3660 Express Dr., Shallotte with Reverend Gerald Kirby officiating.

Burial will follow in the Holden Cemetery with Masonic Rites.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Richard Paul Graves Jr. age 66, of Shallotte passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at his home.

Richard Paul Graves Jr. was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 26, 1947, to Richard Paul Graves, Sr. and Mary Kozlowski Graves. He lived his early years in Harrison and Kearny, New Jersey. He attended St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ with a major in finance and economics.

Richard worked for many years in finance and banking as company controller and chief financial officer. He and his wife Cynthia raised their three children in Bethel, Connecticut. They moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1997 and to Brunswick County in 2005. His most recent job since coming to Brunswick County was working for Advance Auto Parts.

He was a dedicated volunteer throughout his life with many organizations. In New Jersey and Connecticut with the Jaycees, as well as the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, The Shallotte Elks and Ocean Isle Turtle Protection Program.
He was a member of St. Brendan’s church and worked on service projects there.

Richard was an avid fisherman, who loved the sea and the dream of the next “big catch”. He enjoyed playing golf with his wife and friends, as well as talking with his buddies at the clubhouse over a beer.

Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cynthia LaManna Graves and three wonderful children, daughter Cheryl Wagner, son-in-law Fritz Wagner and grandsons Ryan and Kyle Wagner. Daughter Kimarie Santiago, son-in-law Michael Santiago and grandsons Maddox and Myles Santiago. Son Erik Graves, daughter-in-law Trisha Graves and granddaughter Joyelle Graves.

A visitation will be held from 3 PM to 5 PM on Friday, November 8th at White Funeral and Cremation Service in Shallotte. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 10 AM at St. Brendan the Navigator church in Shallotte.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
